We are looking for an analytical, skilled individual to join our Merchandising Store Support Team as a Category Manager. The responsibilities include:

  • Achieving company sales, gross profit, and inventory objectives, significantly improving profitability and value.
  • Improving return on investment and productivity by means of managing inventory, controlling day-to-day inventory operations, and implementing inventory control protocols.

To be successful as a Category Manager, you should be analytical with a strong attention to detail. The individual should be able to interpret and implement data on Rocky’s customer trends and spending. Supporting our stores and store associates so they can more effectively serve our customers is Priority One.

Category Manager Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and improving the company’s inventory position by analyzing inventory statistics to determine which products are selling and which are not.
  • Maximizing Inventory Productivity across departments and stores including forecasting and managing seasonal trends.
  • Placing inventory orders and tracking shipments.
  • Allocating inventory to the correct departments/stores received from both Regional Support Centers (warehouses) and direct vendor shipments.
  • Utilizing existing systems to improve protocols generating suggested orders while improving productivity related to receiving processes at store level.
  • Analyzing inventory reports that document inventory counts, discrepancies, and other statistical data.
  • Reporting inventory statistics to management and suggesting improvements to inventory control.
  • Creating and maintaining inventory databases and systems for accurately managing inventory.
  • Collaborate across functional departments including:
    • Marketing: Developing impactful marketing strategies within assigned departments. Ensuring adequate inventory levels to drive marketing events. Negotiation with key suppliers to develop strategic use of marketing funds.
    • Operations: Work with operations team to ensure effective execution of merchandising initiatives and identify store-specific opportunities to enhance sales and profits as well as store specific inventory goals.
    • IT: collaborate with IT team to ensure maximum effectiveness of inventory management systems.
  • Develop strong relationships with ACE merchants to ensure effective execution of merchandising initiatives: Product assortments, rollouts, pricing, and regional/store specific needs.

Category Manager Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years direct experience as a retail Inventory Analyst in a multi-store chain OR a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or similar field of study.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, primarily Microsoft excel (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
