2019 Holiday Trends: Décor and Gifts

2019 holiday trends for gifts and décor

When it comes to decorating and gifting, we’ve got what you need to make your home merry and bright with 2019 holiday trends. Here’s what you can expect to see this year.

Make Spirits Bright…and Sparkly

Maximalism is on trend this year, with bold colors, mixed patterns, layers of textures and extra points for everything that shimmers and shines. Think an abundance of white and colored lights, from tiny fairy lights around frames to large bulbs on your tree, shrubbery and home. Ornaments are large and plentiful, with metallic shine, sparkly finishes and bright colors.

Don’t be afraid to mix it up when it comes to textiles, too. Tree skirts, gift wrap, pillows and blankets provide many opportunities to tastefully layer textures and patterns, such as plaids, stripes and polka dots. Then add glitzy finishing touches, like sequins, glitter or iridescent ribbons and bows.

Go Green(er)

Whether you’re decorating or gifting, keep sustainability in mind. Switch to LED bulbs and use recycled paper or repurpose fabric for gift wrap. Put lights on a timer. Create your own décor from branches and greens from your own backyard.

Go green when it comes to holiday gifts, too. Consider a birdhouse with a bag of seed for an outdoor lover, or a potted amaryllis and the 2020 Farmer’s Almanac for the gardener on your list. Reusable metal drinking straws make great stocking stuffers and a motion-activated, solar-powered LED light can add extra security with little environmental impact to a loved one’s home.

Spoil Your Furry Friends

According to a survey conducted by the American Pet Products Association, about 50 percent of dog owners and 39 percent of cat owners buy gifts for their pets during the holidays and are spending more than ever before. From pet beds to toys, treats and food, we’ve got what you need to make your favorite fur baby feel special, too!

We’re also running our 9th Annual Pet Food & Supplies Drive to help homeless pets in our neighborhoods. A list of items needed for local area shelters is available at all Rocky’s locations; we hope you’ll check it out now through December 23.
