GRILLED TRAEGER TAILGATE DOG
As the weather turns chill, it’s time to bring some serious heat to tailgate season! Get ready to kick off the flavor with these bacon-wrapped foot-longs grilled to perfection, piled high with onions, cheese and BBQ sauce. Every bite of this Tailgate Dog is a game-changer!
Ingredients
- 2 medium sweet onions, sliced
- 8 slices of bacon
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 hot dog buns
- 2 cups shredded cheddar
- Traeger Sweet & Heat BBQ Sauce (available at your local Rocky’s Ace Hardware)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Steps
- Preheat the Traeger to 375°F with the lid closed, about 15 minutes.
- Place sliced onions in an aluminum foil packet with butter, salt and pepper, then put the packet on the grill.
- Place bacon slices directly on grill grates and cook until heated through and just starting to crisp, about 10 minutes.
- Remove bacon from grill and let cool slightly. Wrap one slice of bacon around each hot dog. Return the bacon-wrapped hot dogs to the grill and cook until the bacon is crispy, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Remove the onions and hot dogs from the grill. Place each bacon-wrapped hot dog in a bun. Top with the grilled onions, a generous dose of shredded cheese and a drizzle of Traeger Sweet & Heat BBQ Sauce.
